Women

Women are the backbone of the church so they want equal access to decision-making, resources, education and finance.
All church leaders in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe agree wholeheartedly with the first part of this statement. But women are still having to fight for the latter part of that statement.
The job of mission 21’s Women and Gender Division is to enable women to take leading positions and improve their lives by means of training and further education. Because women have still not achieved equality of opportunity, it is a priority for mission 21 to improve the position of women and increase awareness of equality of the sexes.
The exchange of experience and mutual learning is made possible by the creation of women’s networks.
The Women and Gender Division promotes awareness of justice between the sexes internally at mission 21 by giving its staff further training.
The newly elected Head of the Division will take office on 1 January 2005.
