Basler Mission

The Basler Mission is officially called the Evangelical Mission Company of Basel. It was founded in 1815, opened a year later the mission seminar and sent the first seminarians out to the Caucasus in 1821. In 1828, the work started in Ghana, in 1834 in South India and in 1847 the first missionaries travelled to South China. From its soon to be two hundred years of work in Africa and Asia and its engagement in Latin America since the 1970s, it brings numerous relationships into mission 21.

Mission 21 is carrying on the extensive archive of the Basler Mission. It covers an abundance of historical sources of text, sound and photography and historical maps.
