Donations to mark special occasions

People gather together to celebrate happy occasions with one another, and also to help each other to cope with difficult events. Sometimes, we want these special occasions to achieve something good beyond the circle of our friends and family. The information given below will show you how you can put this idea into practice to mark a festive occasion, or to honour the memory of someone who has passed away.

    To mark festive occasions

    Birthdays and anniversaries

Do you have a heartfelt concern for a particular country or good cause? If so, you can suggest that your family, friends and acquaintances refrain from giving gifts on your birthday or anniversary.

Simply ask them to donate the money to Mission 21's projects instead. That way, you can pass your joy on to other people all over the world.

    Marriages

If your wedding takes place in a church, you – as the bridal couple – can designate the purpose for which the collection will be used. By taking a collection for Mission 21 on your 'happiest day', you will give the gift of new hope to disadvantaged people in our partner countries.

Marianne Gutzwiller will be glad to answer your questions about these events.

    Procedure

On the paying-in slip, please note the event for which you are making a donation, and enter the address of the person or people who are celebrating the occasion (first name, last name, street/road, postal code/zip, place). If you inform us of the precise address, we can avoid unnecessary queries for you and we can inform the person(s) concerned of the total of donations received in their name. However, the individual amount donated always remains anonymous.

Order our free-of-charge set of cards with envelopes, and a prepared paying-in slip for the donation to mark your event. ►Order

    To mark a bereavement

In case of a bereavement, a donation to Mission 21 is often requested instead of flowers and wreaths, according to the wishes of the deceased person or his/her survivors. In case of a church funeral, the collection can be designated for Mission 21's work in general or for a specific individual project. In this way, the memory of the deceased is honoured and his or her personal causes are supported.

Wording of this sort, or a similar text, could be included in the obituary notice:

In remembrance of the deceased, please support Mission 21, Missionsstrasse 21, 4009 Basel,
    PC Account 40-726233-2.

    Procedure

If you want to honour the memory of the deceased by supporting Mission 21, please note this on the paying-in slip and note the address of the mourner(s) (first name, last name, street/road, postal code/zip, place). If you inform us of the precise address of the mourner(s), we can avoid unnecessary queries for you:

Donation in memory of Lena Muster, Basel

Mother of Hans Muster, Musterweg 10, 3001 Berne

The mourning family will be sent a list at regular intervals to inform them of the donations received. However, the individual amount donated always remains anonymous.

Mission 21 will send personal thanks for all donations received in remembrance of the deceased person.

Marianne Gutzwiller will be glad to answer your questions.
