'Diego de Medellín' Ecumenical Centre (CEDM)
Ever since it was set up, the CEDM has taught skills to community members in leadership positions by offering diploma programmes, courses, seminars and workshops; it also facilitates ecumenical dialogue and interaction through its publications. The Centre's specific contribution to the ecumenical movement is to open up channels for consideration of the major problems and challenges that are confronting society. The CEDM aims to play its part in the cultural transformation of Chilean society and to promote citizen participation. The objective is to strengthen individuals and groups that were marginalised in the past on account of their gender, age, ethnicity, social circumstances, sexual orientation, disabilities or religious affiliation. It upholds values such as solidarity, sustainability, commitment to the environment, social justice and peace culture.
