PERUATI, Network of Women Theologians in Indonesia

The Network of Women Theologians in Indonesia (PERUATI) engages in theological discourse and is also involved in the community at a very practical level. PERUATI fights against discrimination and injustice, and combats violence towards women and children. Numerous cases of domestic violence, human trafficking and exploitation confirm PERUATI's ongoing commitment to strengthen and expand its national women's network. Mission 21 supports the programmes for the advancement of women aimed at overcoming violence, as well as the efforts of female theologians to make a significant contribution towards contextualising and enhancing the quality of basic and advanced theological training. PERUATI was set up in 1995 after a seminar organised by the Women's Bureau of the PGI (Indonesian Communion of Churches) and the Association of Theological Schools in Indonesia (PERSETIA).
