UKDW, Faculty of Theology of the Duta Wacana Christian University in Yogyakarta
Through its Centre for Religious Studies, the Faculty of Theology of the Duta Wacana Christian University in Yogyakarta (UKDW) helps to work towards a pluralist Indonesia. Promotion of interfaith dialogue is a key factor; this takes place partly in cooperation with the State Islamic University (UIN). This cooperation is a rare occurrence. The joint study projects and programmes offer all students a variety of interfaith subjects as well as courses in comparative theology and religious/cultural studies. Under the auspices of the peace programme, Mission 21 has supported the Centre for Religious Studies attached to the UKDW since 2003. It was also in 2003 that Mission 21 began collaborating with the Feminist Theology Study Center attached to the Faculty of Theology at the UKDW. Another aspect of cooperation between Mission 21 and the UKDW is the promotion of contextual theology and of ecumenical and academic exchanges. The UKDW cooperates with twelve Indonesian churches and synods.
