{"id":4,"count":10,"description":"Mission 21 is committed to improving healthcare in Ghana. Ghana was one of the first countries to which the Basel Mission sent missionaries in 1828. The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), today one of the oldest and largest churches in the country, emerged from the work of the Basel Mission in Ghana.\r\n\r\nMission 21 is still present in Ghana today, supporting projects in the areas of health and education. These projects are now managed operationally by the organization \"Evangelical Mission in Solidarity\" (EMS) in Stuttgart. Mission 21 contributes to the financing of the projects.\r\n<h4>Health care for the poor<\/h4>\r\nAmong other things, the PCG runs health centers, basic health services, district hospitals, clinics and nursing schools. Mission 21 supports the PCG's work in the health sector.\r\nAlthough health insurance has been available in Ghana since 2005, not all people in rural areas have access to it. In addition, the insurance does not cover the costs of expensive medication, meals and patient transportation. Such costs are covered by the \"Poor and Sick Fund\" PCG.
