Either by considering gender justice as an overarching theme, or by integrating gender equality-related themes or target groups into the project.<\/p>\n<p>To actively work toward gender equity, Mission 21 works with a <strong>gender-transformative approach<\/strong>that addresses causes of gender inequality, critically challenges gender stereotypes, and changes them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mission 21 relies on three approaches to achieve this:<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mission-21.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/csm_treffen_frauengruppenleiterinnen_tansania_29f46ec527.jpg\" alt=\"csm meeting women group leaders tanzania 29f46ec527\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1260\" width=\"1680\" title=\"csm_meeting_women_group_leaders_Tanzania_29f46ec527\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\">\n<h2>\n\t\tEmpowerment\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>The empowerment of women and girls means that women-specific projects and measures should aim to increase the degree of self-determination of women so that they can perceive and use their creative scope and resources. However, men also suffer from patriarchal structures and it is necessary to take complementary, male-specific, gender-transformative measures.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mission-21.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/csm_gender_mainstreaming_38c45a74d4.jpg\" alt=\"csm gender mainstreaming 38c45a74d4\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1143\" width=\"1523\" title=\"csm_Gender_Mainstreaming_38c45a74d4\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\">\n<h2>\n\t\tAdvancement of Women\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Mission 21 focuses on the advancement of women, i.e. the education and professional advancement of women. This should enable them to assume leadership positions in their communities as well as in the partner churches and partner organizations. A prerequisite for this is that discrimination-free working environments are created: Mission 21 places a high priority on preventing and protecting against sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment in the workplace. This applies to Mission 21 as an overall organization as well as in cooperation with its partners.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mission-21.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/csm_advocacy_273d7b5387.jpg\" alt=\"csm advocacy 273d7b5387\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1261\" width=\"1680\" title=\"csm_Advocacy_273d7b5387\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\">\n<h2>\n\t\tAdvocacy\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Mission 21 aims to, <b>Local capacity for advocacy<\/b> (Capacity Development for Advocacy). We want to strengthen partner organizations and key persons to stand up for gender justice and women's human rights as agents of change (<i>agents of change)<\/i>. Mission 21 supports the networking of women's and gender activists and their organizations. This networking is an important prerequisite for joint action. They should be able to work for changes in laws and policies in the national context and to conduct public campaigns. To this end, they should also be able to use global instruments such as CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women) and UN Resolution 1325. Contextual feminist theology is also important in this regard.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/en\/hrbodies\/cedaw\/pages\/cedawindex.aspx\">\u25ba CEDAW<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/womenwatch\/osagi\/wps\/\">\u25ba UN Resolution 1325<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tGender mainstreaming\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Gender mainstreaming is a strategy to eliminate structural causes of gender-based inequality. Gender mainstreaming consistently takes into account that people are in different life situations and have different interests.<\/p>\n<p>Gender mainstreaming enables women to access political and social decision-making processes, financial resources and services through gender equality measures.<\/p>\n<p>In order to implement gender mainstreaming, knowledge management is of <strong>Gender Competencies<\/strong> important: we want to ensure that knowledge on gender justice is shared and further developed in the departments, in the programs and in the international women's and gender network of Mission 21. <strong>Work aids and checklists<\/strong> facilitate the assurance of gender sensitivity in everyday life.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mission-21.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/workshop_feedback.jpg\" alt=\"workshop feedback\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1125\" width=\"1500\" title=\"Workshop_Feedback\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\">\n\t<p>At Mission 21, moreover, the <strong>Structures <\/strong>geared toward gender mainstreaming: Women's delegates from Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America represent the interests of women in the Synod, the strategic body. Together with external experts, the women's delegates sit on the Advisory Board Gender Justice, which advises the Executive Board on strategic gender issues. At the level of the Executive Board, gender mainstreaming is ensured by the seat of the head of the Women's and Gender Justice Unit. Gender focal points represent gender issues in the departments. And there are gender advisors in all cooperation programs.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mission-21.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/csm_frauenfoerderungsfonds_7518ad7c71.jpg\" alt=\"csm women&#039;s development fund 7518ad7c71\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1261\" width=\"1680\" title=\"csm_fund_for_women_fund_7518ad7c71\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\">\n<h2>\n\t\tGender Justice Fund\n\t<\/h2>\n<p>The Gender Equity Fund provides additional financial resources to programs and partner organizations to enable them to respond quickly to societal developments that may reinforce gender inequality. In particular, the fund is intended to finance pilot projects with new approaches, new partners, or new topics that have the potential to strengthen the activities of the gender justice cooperation programs in the long term. A portion of these projects is funded annually through the collection of the <a href=\"https:\/\/wgt.ch\">Swiss World Day of Prayer<\/a> financed. Its task is to support the strategic orientation of Mission 21 for gender justice and gender mainstreaming. The four coordinators of the Continental Assemblies, representatives of the Mission 21 Board of Directors, and external gender experts participate in the Board. The campaign runs from November 25, the International Day against Violence against Women, to December 10, Human Rights Day.
