As a gynecologist, he treats girls and women who have been severely injured by multiple rapes or targeted mutilations.<\/p>\n<p>As a human rights activist, he publicly draws attention to groups of perpetrators and repeatedly calls for the condemnation of sexualized wartime violence and the consistent prosecution of perpetrators for crimes against humanity.<\/p>\n<p>He has been awarded several prizes for his tireless efforts, and in 2018 he was even awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Great appreciation for the work of Mission 21<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In an exchange of letters with Johannes Blum, President of the Board of Mission 21 and, thanks to several years of service in the DR Congo, familiar with the difficult medical situation in the country, Denis Mukwege now expresses his appreciation for the work of Mission 21 worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>He thanks us for the information about the work of Mission 21 and writes: \"I admire your commitment to helping the most disadvantaged and promoting the dignity of women in several countries around the world.\"<\/p>\n<p>For Mission 21, this appreciation of our work by such a dedicated physician and intrepid human rights activist is particularly honorable.
