Religious communities and their leaders play a central role in these social issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mission 21 has been working in partnership with the Moravian Church in Tanzania for many years. Given the church\u2019s widespread presence and its position of social prestige, its pastors and leaders play an important role in social change. \u00a0Theological education that addresses this responsibility, along with church-based educational initiatives that advocate for peace, justice, inclusion, and interfaith dialogue\u2014open to all denominations and religions\u2014are therefore of great importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One example of this is the theological seminary at Teofilo Kisanji University (TEKU) in Mbeya, which offers an academically sound, ecumenically open and socially relevant education. The courses are also attended by students from neighboring countries such as Kenya, Malawi and Zambia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"projektziele\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project goals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Graduates acquire skills to actively tackle social challenges such as HIV, poverty, violence and inequality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They promote holistic development in their communities and the wider social environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The training raises awareness of interfaith relations, (gender) justice, peacebuilding and the inclusion of people with disabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to high-quality theological education - regardless of gender or social background.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"zielgruppen\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Target groups<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Six scholarship holders at the Faculty of Theology at TEKU<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approx. 350 multipliers (church leaders, pastors, lecturers)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"aktivitTen\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following activities were planned for 2025:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Promotion of teaching with a focus on inclusion, gender equality, peacebuilding, interfaith relations, ecumenism and the prevention of HIV and domestic violence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awarding of six scholarships to disadvantaged women for a Bachelor's degree in theology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Networking and exchange with national and international theological training centers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe hcb-fetch-image-from=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/249392313\" title=\"Theological education, Tanzania\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/249392313?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"projektfortschritt\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project progress<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2025, six scholarship recipients successfully completed their theology studies at TEKU.
