PERUATI, Network of Women Theologians in Indonesia
The network of women theologians in Indonesia (PERUATI) is involved both in theological discourse and very specifically in the community. PERUATI functions within the parishes as a 'eye opener' and shows why a women's network like PERUATI is urgently needed. This network is not used for Exclusivity and differentiationbut the inclusivity of the activities. Gender studies were carried out by PERSETIA, the Women's Office, and PERUATI. It fights against discrimination and injustice as well as violence against women and children. The presence of PERUATI the network of the Women's struggle strengthened by Protestant groups in Indonesia. This can be seen as a measure of the development of feminist theology in Indonesia over two decades and its contribution to the struggle for Actions be seen as a form of care and compassion. On the other hand, however, there are still obstacles to discourse and struggle from Feminist*inside. The concept of feminism and the discussion about feminist theology in Indonesia become some people continue to considered irrelevant because them as Producte of the West become. Feminism/feminist theology becomes still seen as a mere discourse study, not as a perspective that can lead to lifestyle changes and even to the Aspiration for can contribute to a humane civilization. This controversy does not dampen the enthusiasm for the development of feminist theologywhich revitalized the entire PERUATI struggle movement. The many cases of intimate partner violence, human trafficking and exploitation confirm PERUATI's need to further strengthen and expand its national women's network. Mission 21 supports the Programs for the advancement of women to overcome violence and the efforts of women theologians to make a significant contribution to contextualization and quality improvement in theological education and training. PERUATI was founded in 1995 following a seminar organized by the Women's Office of the PGI (Federation of Protestant Churches) and the Association of Indonesian Theological Schools (PERSETIA).Â
