Coronavirus: Fear and Panic in Hong Kong

Tobias Brandner works as Associate Professor of Theology at the Chinese University in Hong Kong. He works part-time for Mission 21 in Hong Kong as a prison chaplain. He has been working for Mission 21 since 1996. Currently, Hong Kong is once again in a state of emergency, but this time because of the highly contagious corona virus.

Brandner cannot carry out his work as a professor and pastor as usual. People are retreating to their homes, schools have been closed and lectures are being offered via streamed video. Church services are also affected. Brandner therefore makes his sermons available via the Internet.

The Hong Kong people are rather hostile to the Chinese crisis management. Hardly anyone believes the official information from the Chinese government about the number of dead and infected by the corona virus.
