The annual workdays for church bazaars have the goal of passing on diverse impulses and suggestions in theory and practice for the bazaar work in the church congregations. Also this year, the workday in Bern was well attended.
In the five courses, books were redesigned using various folding techniques, drool bibs or diaper bags were sewn, felt figures were made, tiger bunting was knitted, or a string of roses and lights was made from paper yarn.
The conference started with a greeting from Pia Grossholz-Fahrni, Synodal Councilor of the Reformed Churches Bern Jura Solothurn, and a conference input from Heidi Zingg Knöpfli, Director of Studies of Mission 21. In her short presentation, various women and their stories were introduced who were overseas as missionaries, missionary sisters, missionary brides or wives. The adventurous stories with funny anecdotes were also a good remedy for the gray cold winter day.
At the end, the products made were exhibited and the various techniques and procedures were reported over a shared Zvieri. It was an inspiring afternoon that probably encouraged some to take up knitting or sewing again at home.
