What is it like to be a young person standing up for the rights of an Indigenous community? What challenges and hope shape the lives of the Sámi people today?
On July 25 we welcome Juhán from Norway to our next get-together. In an open and informal discussion, he will share insights into his experiences as chair of Noereh, an organization for Sámi youth between the ages of 12 and 30.
The Sámi are an Indigenous people in Northern Europe. Their traditional homeland spans the modern-day countries of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. Juhán talks about his work advocating for the concerns of young Sámi people and what Indigenous politics mean in everyday life. This provides an opportunity to ask questions, learn about new perspectives, and engage in conversation with people from different backgrounds.
