Indian ambassador visits the Mission 21 archive

His Excellency Sibi George (2nd from left), Indian ambassador to Switzerland, paid a visit to the Mission 21 archive at his own request. "I am fascinated by the treasures stored here," he said afterwards.

India was one of the first areas of operation of the Basel Mission, the largest supporting organization of Mission 21. The Basel Mission operated printing works in India. As a result, the archive has printed material in Indian languages that cannot be found anywhere else, including Malayalam, the ambassador's mother tongue. Sibi George and his wife were also immersed in documents in Malayalam in the archive reading room and learned about the archive's digital collection (www.bmarchives.org).

The research archive and library of Mission 21 document extensively and in many facets over 200 years of world history. Most of the archive material comes from the Basel Mission, founded in 1815, which was primarily active in Ghana, Cameroon, South India, South China and Kalimantan (Indonesia).

The archive is open to interested parties for research purposes. The Benefactors' Association "Friends of the Archive. Supports the preservation of important cultural assets in the archive.
