In Bolivia, children with disabilities are at particularly high risk of neglect and gender-based violence. When communication barriers are added to the mix, they often lack the words and signs needed to report abuse or seek help in time.
Our Partner Organization Machaqa Amawta This is exactly where the program in La Paz comes in: Professionals empower children with and without disabilities from neighborhoods affected by poverty through targeted prevention efforts. In a safe environment, the children learn to recognize their own physical boundaries and to respect the boundaries of others.
With a donation of CHF 35, you’ll enable a child—with or without a disability—to participate in a safety workshop. Your contribution helps fund specific measures such as:
- Sign Language Workshops: Deaf children learn to name their feelings and clearly set boundaries in their own language.
- «Signaling »Stop": Practical exercises for recognizing and defusing boundary violations and assaults early on.
- Accessible learning materials: Visual images and activity cards that convey safety messages without language barriers.
- Community Outreach: Parents and teachers learn to recognize warning signs in children and to provide reliable support to those affected.
Your donation will go directly to this Mission 21 educational project in Bolivia, where it will be used for its intended purpose.
