Colonial history is not just about the past. It is not limited to specific regions or groups of people who have experienced colonial oppression and liberation. It concerns all people.
How can we shape a just and peaceful future? Mission 21«s first »RoundTable” will address this question. This new conference format builds on Mission 21’s past learning experiences and is being organized in cooperation with the Museum der Kulturen Basel.
We invite experts from various fields to reflect on the following questions: How can we incorporate a vision of the future when designing places of remembrance and cultures of remembrance? What is the connection between (de)coloniality and our relationship with nature? And what perspectives do young people bring to decolonial practice?
The «Remembering the Future» Roundtable will take place over two days:
- Thursday, October 15, 2026, 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. – at the Museum der Kulturen Basel
- Friday, October 16, 2026, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – at Mission 21 (Missionsstrasse 21) in Basel
