UIN-DC, Dialogue Center of the State Islamic University in Yogyakarta
The Dialogue Center conducts religious studies, organizes seminars, interfaith interactions and workshops, and builds an interfaith network with the government and non-governmental organizations. The main purpose is to promote interfaith dialogue and cooperation among young adults in order to raise awareness of religious and cultural diversity in Indonesian society, where equal rights apply to all, and to live "togetherness in diversity." The Dialogue Center is a semi-independent institute under the graduate program of Kalijaga State Islamic University in Yogyakarta with a Muslim-Christian leadership. In recent years, fundamentalist forces in Indonesia have once again grown stronger. With its valuable commitment in the interreligious field, the Dialogue Center is a proven cooperation partner in the Indonesia Peace Program: since 2006, Mission 21 has financed the interreligious encounter workshops for young adults, each of which led to the founding of new interreligious groups and forums. The focus of the cooperation will continue to be on interreligious peace work in the future.
