Swiss Radio SRF and other media are currently reporting on the difficult situation in South Sudan. The occasion is a report by Amnesty International, which exposes horrific abuses committed by government forces and allied militias in the civil war-torn country of South Sudan. Amnesty interviewed around 100 witnesses and documented the brutal violence perpetrated by government forces between April and July 2018. Government soldiers terrorized civilians in opposition districts. They killed children, women, and men, burned people alive, and raped girls and women. The government denies the reports; it recently signed (another) peace agreement with the opposition.
