Corona consequences hit the very poorest in Bolivia

The interim government of Bolivia recently extended restrictions to contain the Corona crisis until April 30. This public health emergency has been in effect since March 25. The Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday, April 14, about 400 infected and 28 deaths. The number of people infected is most likely much higher, because few people are tested.

The Corona pandemic hangs over the country like a sword of Damocles. It is above all the poverty-stricken part of the population that is threatened. This is shown in the report by Claudia Quispe Rampa, program officer Peru and Bolivia at Mission 21. Not only the ailing public health system is a problem. For the poorer population in rural areas, the state of emergency and the restriction of nutritional options are threatening their existence. The support of the population by Mission 21's partner organizations on the ground is now all the more important. Donate for the people in Bolivia! And today, Thursday, April 16, place a candle in the window in Switzerland - as a #SignOfHope for all those affected by the Corona crisis.
