Obertina Johannis, pastor of the partner church GKP on the island of Java, experienced in her own family what it is like to fear for the health of close relatives. Nevertheless, Obertina Johannis keeps hope. She sees a positive sign that people are sticking together despite this crisis in the active help provided in her environment - for example, by people who would bring protective equipment to hospital employees.

Increased solidarity

Mila Suryaningsi, a pastor and lecturer on the island of Sumba, is also experiencing fear and anxiety as Corona infections continue to rise in her country. She stresses the importance of churches reaching out to help those directly affected by the health and economic impacts. Despite everything, Mila even sees a positive aspect to this situation. She says that the Corona crisis has strengthened people's solidarity to support each other in difficult times.
