Mission 21 has been supporting a livelihood project for the population in the remote region of Pochalla for several years. The farmers have increased their yields, but find too few markets for their products. At the same time, many children in the region are malnourished. Now, with proceeds from the harvest of the agricultural project, the pupils in the elementary school of the partner church PCOSS are to be offered a balanced and healthy diet.
For many of the school children, it will be their only hot meal of the day. In addition, the new project will create jobs by employing cooks to prepare meals for the 350 schoolchildren.
The first steps for a successful start have already been completed. In 2021, a storage room was built to properly store the harvests and protect them from the ever-present threat of locust invasions and climate-related hazards such as drought and floods. The next step is now the construction of the kitchen for the school feeding program.
