Solidarity with the victims of war - bell from Cameroon rings along

It was in 2015 that Mission 21 brought a bell - donated by our sponsoring association Basler Mission - to the village of Nchum in northwestern Cameroon and ceremoniously handed it over. The village has now been located for years in one of the absolute hotspots of violent conflict between the government and separatists. Many houses have been shot up, many people have been murdered or have fled.

The bell on site, however, can still ring out. In the midst of all the current feelings of powerlessness and grief, this seems like an unexpected light and a wonderful sign of hope. In the midst of all the terror, the bell is still standing, no one has stolen it or damaged it. The people who live there ring it as a reminder of God's message of love and hope, and they hold fast to their faith in peaceful, just coexistence.
