CEK, Evangelical Community Kwango

The Communauté Évangélique du Kwango (CEK) has 35,000 members, 13,000 of whom live in Kinshasa. The CEK was recognized by the state in 1958. The CEK is a member of the Église du Christ au Congo (ECC), the union of all Protestant churches in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the Kwango, the CEK is one of the few functioning institutions in the region. It operates in an area almost as large as Switzerland. It has a regional development program in the areas of basic health, agriculture, education and the advancement of women and has therefore become the central source of hope for the local population.
