NCC, Center for the Study of Japanese Religions
The NCC Center for the Study of Japanese Religions is an ecumenical institute of the National Christian Council in Japan. It was founded in 1958 and initially focused on research on Japanese religions and Japanese Christianity. In later years, interreligious dialogue with representatives of these religions was added. Mission 21 is committed to the dialogue between religions in many places and therefore also supports the corresponding exchange program of the institute. It enables students of theology, religious studies, Japanese studies and religious education to expand their specialist knowledge in Japan and to acquire interreligious competence in the context of other religions. Mission 21 regularly arranges sabbaticals for pastors in cooperation with the NCC.
